Composition

Concept art of Conner  from assassins creed 3- Giles Beloeil
Conner and the corpse in the bottom right corner form the division line between the middle and right third. They are also aligned with the focal points (red dots). Conner’s arm follows the top right to bottom left diagonal on the last third.
The horizon is close to the horizontal line dividing the top third and the upper focal point. The upper focal point matches up with Conner’s knife so the viewer’s eyes go straight to it and know that it was him that hilled the guards on the floor.

Light

Dead Space concept art
The main light source in the image is strong torch light but most of the image is in shadows.
The silhouettes of the monster in the  background are hard to see so that they can still be threatening even in concept. There is also light coming out of the helmet but it only lights up a small area due to its size. Most of the image is actually light reflecting off of the armor being worn by the main character which i think is really clever.

Fallout 3 concept art
The main light source in this image is strong sunlight and casts large shadows over the area. There are also little light sources coming from the ship. I really like this image for its strong colouring and different shades of brown.

Final Image

I have decided to use this as my final image as i much happier with the tone of the image, with the dog taking up more space on the canvas it shows how it is stronger than the soldier and that it can overpower him. Also the colouring is much better as you can clearly see where the light source is coming from.

Final image sketch

The idea for this finalised image was that the Soldier had just met the first dog. The reason i didn't like this though was that the image did not show how dangerous the dog's really are and almost make's the viewer feel sorry for them instead of fear.

Enviroment sketch

This a pratice sketch i made for the enviroment. As the setting is in the underground i made a small layer of shading to the image and some highlights around the torches. the reason there is so much green is to add a sickly feeling to the image making not only the character but the also the viewer not want to be in the area for too long.
